Baseball has deep roots in Jacksonville that spread back to 1888, when we hosted Major League Baseball’s first Spring Training. It was not until 1904 when pro baseball was actually established in the River City with the Jacksonville Jays at Dixieland Park.

Some people call them fish shacks, holes in the wall, dives- I call them Fish Camps! When you visit a city that is virtually surrounded by water you are bound to be able to nosh on fresh seafood at any restaurant. Of course you can dine in a fancy restaurant and be served the fresh catch of the day, but no experience rivals those of dining in a true fish camp.

A brand new holiday tradition started in Jacksonville this year –ZOOLights at the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens. I went and it is just charming! A perfect outing, in my eyes, for all ages! How does the song go? “For kids from one to 92”? That sums it up perfectly.
