Coffee Shop Review – Bold Bean Coffee Roasters
Posted By: Void Magazine Thu, July 10, 2014
Out with the old, in with the bold! Bold Bean Coffee Roasters has just opened its second location in South Jacksonville Beach, ironically where the old Starbucks was located. Bold Bean specializes in handmade, single-origin coffee, espresso beverages, craft beer and a community-orientated atmosphere.
Personally, I’m a big coffee drinker, so, when a new shop opens its doors, I can’t wait to check it out. On a casual Tuesday morning, I made my way to Bold Bean see if this hip, semi-upscale spot was all that everyone makes it out to be. Ordering a large, iced vanilla coffee, I was satisfied with my purchase. Bold Bean’s claim to fame is their passion for the coffee brewing process. Smelling the coffee and taking your first sip, you can tell the coffee is as fresh as can be, and full of rich flavor. Their artisanal approach to roasting and commitment to quality shows customers how great coffee can be when it’s treated the right way, from bean to cup.
The service was great, with a kind and helpful barista who told me about the coffee flavors, as well as not having to wait more than a minute for my coffee. The shop was almost full and the two customers in line before me were quick to get their orders as well. The environment of Bold Bean in Jax Beach is calm and clean, with refreshing mint-green accents and decorations. It makes for a quaint place to relax and sip your coffee or chat with a friend.
You can find baked goods, a variety of latte flavors like honey, curry and spicy chocolate, as well as cappuccinos, macchiatos and teas.
My only complaint was my large coffee was $3.42, for a 12-ounce cup. But hey, when you go to an artisan spot like that, you shouldn’t expect much less. Plus, the quality was well worth the upcharge. I will go back if I’m in the area and wanting a cup of fresh joe, because Bold Bean definitely has it.
