The 2015 Jacksonville Jazz Festival returns Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-25, 2015 in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville. The new Jacksonville Jazz Festival event footprint will include stages along Bay Street, one near Marsh Street and the Shipyards, another near Newnan Street, and at the Jacksonville Landing.

This FREE festival will transform into a vibrant setting with multiple entertainment stages and other components! 2015 Jacksonville Jazz Festival Commemorative Poster
Designed by local artist Russ Wilson, his goal was to capture the Jacksonville jazz culture. The neon sign in the piece is loosely based on the Ritz Theatre marquee and the travel stickers on the guitar case represent local jazz venues from Jacksonville’s early days such as Globe, Strand, Roosevelt, and Manuel’s Tap Room. Wilson's overall feel is one of a warm summer night enveloping a vibrant downtown and sparkling riverfront.

Art in the Heart Downtown

Where else can you enjoy the sweet sounds of jazz and shop at the same time? The 2015 Art in the Heart of Downtown art show and sale features the work of talented artists and master craftspeople from around the country. This unique and vibrant street festival setting, attracts artisans wanting to showcase their talents ranging in mediums such as clay, beading, drawing, glass, sculpture, fiber (includes fine wearables, rugs, and basketry), photography, painting (acrylic, oils, pastels), digital, printmaking, jewelry, mixed media, metal, and wood.

Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition

The Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition, presented by the City of Jacksonville and Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs, has been a tradition for more than 30 years. Five finalists, chosen by a selection committee through "blind" judging, will compete for the honor of this award, a cash prize and the chance to perform on the Main Stage during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

This internationally renowned competition has attracted finalists from all over the world. Past judges include: Marcus Roberts, Brian Culbertson, Jason Miles, Joey Calderazzo, Lynne Arriale, Dr. John. Per Danielsson, John Thomas and other well known jazz musicians.  

Jazz After Dark
Friday, May 23 - Sunday, May 25
10 p.m. - 2 a.m.

The City of Jacksonville will bring to you “Jazz after Dark”. Following the last act of the festival lineup each night, May 23-25, enjoy even more live Jazz from 10 p.m. till 2 a.m. Participating bars and clubs are located within a couple of blocks from the Jazz Fest stages and admission is free!

Utilizing an expanded footprint, the event is set to boast nine official host venues, more than sixty acts, and for the first time, host its own parties in otherwise vacant spaces throughout the weekend.

Headline acts will include Felix Peikli, award-winning trombonist Steve Swell, Jacksonville’s own Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, and Inspection-12, who will perform in downtown Jacksonville for the first time in over fifteen years. Venues will include 1904 Music Hall, Burro Bar, Hourglass, Karpeles Manuscript Library, The Parlour at Grape & Grain Exchange, Rain Dogs, Underbelly, The Volstead, and Downtown Cigar Lounge. Jazz Fest After Dark will program these stages each night following Jazz Fest from 10PM until 2AM and entry will remain free.

Breezin' Stage

The legacy of the Jacksonville Jazz Festival’s official "‘Round Midnight Jam Session" tradition continues! The jam is hosted annually by the “Kelly/Scott Quintet,” featuring world class jazz artists, five-time DownBeat Magazine award winning vocalist and 2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival "Hall of Fame" inductee Lisa Kelly, Yamaha trumpet artist and UNF trumpet professor JB Scott, award winning pianist Joshua Bowlus, Arturo Sandoval bassist Dennis Marks & former Navy Commodores drummer Clyde Connor, providing top-notch musical support for the variety of musicians who turn out each year to play. From young, up-and-coming musicians and seasoned pros in the community to festival featured acts and “heavyweights,” you never know who’s going to turn out to share in the improv! This event continues to be one of the festival favorites and will be a feature this year at the Jacksonville Landing’s “Breezin’ Stage.” So bring your horns, guitar, voices and talent to join in, piano, drums, bass/amp & guitar amp provided! Fans bring a chair to witness the musical jammin’ magic!

Youth Jazz Talent Showcase

Groovin' Stage

The Youth Jazz Talent Showcase is a live talent competition open to young jazz singers and musicians between the ages of 7 and 18. The winner will receive a prize toward furthering his or her musical education. Finalists will perform on stage during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 23. Winners will be selected by a panel of music adjudicators who specialize in the arts forms of traditional and contemporary jazz and blues. Trophies will be awarded to 1st-3rd place winners.

Enjoy the soothing sounds of jazz as you dine on a gourmet cuisine and refreshing cocktails at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel. The Jazz Brunch will be held in the Florida Ballroom of the hotel and will feature fine dining with live jazz entertainment. Reservations are required.
