As part of the upcoming THE PLAYERS Championship, THE PLAYERS Downtown Experience returns to Downtown Jacksonville May 6-10.  This year's six-day festivities are centered around The Jacksonville Landing on the beautiful St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville.  Festivities include activities in conjunction with First Wednesday ArtWalk, hands-on golf activities, telecasts from THE PLAYERS on The Landing's jumbotron, live music in the courtyard, drink specials and family entertainment on Saturday.

Tuesday, May 5

THE PLAYERS Free Tuesdays at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens

Admission to the Cummer is free every Tuesday from 4 - 9 p.m., sponsored by THE PLAYERS.

Special activities as part of THE PLAYERS Downtown Experience

  • Landscape watercolor art project in the Cummer studio. Images of TPC Sawgrass and the Cummer Gardens will be on display as inspiration for your own watercolor landscape
  • Live entertainment by saxophonist Aaron Bing

The Cummer continues the celebration with a Cinco de Mayo concert at 7 p.m. in the garden by Impacto Latino (there is a charge for this concert).

 

Wednesday, May 6

First Wednesday ArtWalk

Celebrate the arts in Downtown Jacksonville, as THE PLAYERS Championship and THE PLAYERS Downtown Experience join Downtown Vision's First Wednesday ArtWalk. All events take place at The Jacksonville Landing. 

  • Highlights of 2009 THE PLAYERS Championship will be playing on large Jumbotron
  • Take your best shot at the "Nine Hole Challenge" from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Paint a mural for a local children's hospital, as a part of ArtWalk. To participate in The Foundation for Hospital Art Paintfest activity no artistic experience is necessary. Event is from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Purchase THE PLAYERS Championship tickets and merchandise
  • Live music from Teddy Washington on The Jacksonville Landing stage from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, May 7 (All events take place at The Jacksonville Landing)
  • THE PLAYERS Championship televised on large Jumbotron
  • Take your best shot at the "Nine Hole Challenge" from 5-9 p.m. in
  • Live music from In Focus on The Jacksonville Landing stage from 6-10 p.m.

 

Friday, May 8 (All events take place at The Jacksonville Landing)
  • THE PLAYERS Championship televised on large Jumbotron
  • Take your best shot at the "Nine Hole Challenge" from 5-9 p.m.
  • Enjoy live music from Radio 80 on The Jacksonville Landing stage from 5-9 p.m. and Ace Winn Band from 9:30 p.m. - 2 a.m.

"Night of Champions" presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena
7-9:30 p.m.

The "Night of Champions" is an event for the whole family that will focus on "Building a Legacy Worth Leaving." This message will be conveyed through comedy, music and inspirational messages from special guests, including Danny Wuerffel, The Tebow family, Kirk Herbstreit, Comedian Kenn Kington and Ritchie McDonald, lead singer of Lonestar.

Saturday, May 9 (All events take place at The Jacksonville Landing)
  • THE PLAYERS Championship televised on large Jumbotron
  • Live music from Park Street on The Jacksonville Landing stage from 4-8 p.m. and Freeze Frame from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Family Friendly Activities will be available from 4-8 p.m.

  • Take your best shot at the "Nine Hole Challenge" from 5-9 p.m.
  • Jax4Kids.com will be providing interactive golf activities including SNAG Golf (SNAG stands for Starting New At Golf), face painting and a bounce house
  • Get your picture on the front of a golf magazine with "You Made the Cover"
  • Wii games
  • A giant tee peg game; something you won't want to miss
  • PGA Tour Charities will be on hand providing kid friendly activities
  • The first three families to complete the activities will receive a Visit Jacksonville National Tourism Week (hyperlink to ntw deals) Family Fun Pack with attraction tickets
  • For the parents and adults attending, learn to swing like the pros with golfTEC. golfTEC is the number one provider of golf instruction in the United States. For this event they will provide complimentary swing diagnoses with their portable system complete with digital video and motion analysis sensors. 
  • Live music and drink specials until 2 a.m.
