Escape to the Beaches

Immerse yourself in Jacksonville’s 21 miles of wide, uncrowded beaches. Visitors will find plenty to do, with diverse activities, family fun, restaurants and nightlife.

Morning:

  • Stick your toes in the sand on Jacksonville Beach or stroll the Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier.  At 1,300 feet, the new features a 20-foot wide wooden deck launching nearly a quarter mile into the Atlantic Ocean, offering incredible views of the coastline. 
  • Before hitting the sand pick up your beach accessories from Rent Beach Stuff - providing everything you need for a day of fun!  Rentals include beach chairs, boogie boards, surfboards, sand castle equipment, beach blankets and bikes.  Pick-up and delivery is a part of the service. 

Afternoon:

  • Grab your swim wear and head to Shipwreck Island Waterpark during spring and summer.  Park at Adventure Landing features the Little St. Johns River, the Typhoon Lagoon wave pool and four extreme water slides: the Rage, the Hydro Half-Pipe, the Undertow and the Eye of the Storm.  Don't miss Adventure Landing's other attractions too, go-karts, adventure miniature golf, indoor laser tag, the mega arcade and the batting cages.
  • Rainy day?  Head to the Beaches Museum & History Center.  Walk along a replica boardwalk, while soaking in historical tales, including the story of devastating Hurricane Dora.

Evening:

  • After all that adventure, hunger will set in, so head toward the beach and enjoy loads of seafood and unique cuisine at local hot spot, Salt Life Food Shack.  Or new oceanfront restaurant, The Pier.  The restaurant offers outdoor seating and sweeping views of the shoreline.
  • Hit up one of the beaches hot spots in Atlantic Beach or Jax Beach.  Lemon Bar in Atlantic Beach is a local favorite with ocean views and breezes cooling off guests.  Jax Beach has a variety of bars to check out including, Irish Pubs, microbrews and dance clubs.
