JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Visit Jacksonville is very pleased to announce that Jacksonville has been ranked number 47 on Cvent’s list of the top 50 cities for meetings and events in the United States. Cvent, which operates the number one marketplace for group meetings business in the world, developed the ranking based on meeting and event booking activity in the Cvent Supplier Network.
“We are honored and thrilled to be selected as one of the top 50 meeting destinations in the US!” said Dennis Tracy, Senior Vice President of Destination, Sales and Marketing at Visit Jacksonville. “We hear it all the time from our meeting attendees and planners so it’s great to be recognized by Cvent; a valued partner in our efforts to bring meetings to Jacksonville!”
Visit Jacksonville helps more than 400 groups a year bring their conventions, meetings, sport tournaments and trade shows to Northeast Florida. Last year alone, we helped book 220,000 hotel nights. Putting that into perspective, visitor spending from meetings, conventions and tourism had an economic impact of nearly $1.6 billion in Duval County in 2011.
How did we get this spot?
Cvent evaluated 1,000 cities and 220 major metropolitan areas (MMAs) in the U.S. on the Cvent Supplier Network to create the list. Activity was tracked between July 2011 and June 2012, and the ranking was then determined by a set of qualifying criteria, including: The number of total room nights booked through the Cvent Supplier Network, the number of unique electronic request-for-proposals (RFPs) sent, the total value of the RFPs submitted, the actual awarded value for meetings booked.
Other Florida cities on the list:
#1. Orlando
#4. Miami
#20. Kissimmee
#28. Hollywood
#30. Fort Lauderdale
#32. Tampa
#43. Boca Raton
#49. Naples
