JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 28, 2011) – Beginning July 5, Visit Jacksonville launches its summer social media campaign “Get Lucky in Jax!” The contest utilizes the Visit Jacksonville Facebook Page and spotlights a Northeast Florida attraction each week with 98 straight days of prizes. The contest runs through Oct. 10.
Focusing specifically on local Jacksonville-area residents, the contest poses daily questions to Visit Jacksonville-U Don’t Know Jax Facebook fans to be answered for a chance to win the prize of the day and be entered into the weekly grand prize from the featured attraction. Grand prizes include rounds of golf at area courses, annual passes at museums and animal encounters, behind the scenes tours, VIP seating at nightlife businesses and more.
“Knowing that what local residents say about our city is paramount to becoming a better destination for current and new residents and visitors, ‘Get Lucky in Jax!’ targets people in our community allowing them to easily be a tourist in their own backyard,” said Mya Surrency, Visit Jacksonville vice president of tourism marketing & development. “The prizes offered from area attractions prove there is no excuse for anyone to say there is nothing to do in Jacksonville.”
Surrency added, “For those of us who live here, we must be city ambassadors encouraging more people to check our destination out, spend their money in local businesses and have a great experience while visiting.”
Participating Visit Jacksonville partners include the Museum of Science and History, World Golf Hall of Fame, Marineland, Yes You Canvas!, Florida’s First Coast of Golf, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Sweet Pete’s, St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Déjà Vu Art & Wine Bar, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Tree Hill Nature Center, Take Away Gourmet (TAG), the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and SUITE Jacksonville.
