Visit Jacksonville

John Reyes has served as President and CEO of Visit Jacksonville since January 2005.  Since joining the organization, he has led the charge in adopting and implementing the "Jacksonville. Where Florida Begins" branding campaign and, under his leadership, Visit Jacksonville has exceeded hotel room night goals which has generated an increased economic impact for the community.

Reyes has been in the hospitality industry since 1982.  Prior to arriving in Jacksonville, he worked with the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) since September 1987, when he was hired as the National Sales Manager.  He was promoted to Director of Travel Industry Sales, then to Associate Vice President of Sales and finally to Vice President of Sales where he was responsible for the Hotel Meetings Department, Regional Sales Offices and the Travel Industry Sales Department.  Before his tenure with the San Diego CVB, he worked for five years in sales for various hotels.

An active participant of the community, Reyes serves on local boards and committees, including the Convention Center Task Force, Cultural Council of Jacksonville, Gator Bowl Committee, Northeast Florida Marketing Alliance, The Florida Theatre and Jacksonville Hotel & Motel Association, among others.  He is a Certified Meeting Planner and also a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) for which he served as president of the San Diego chapter; Meeting Professionals International (MPI); Professional Convention Meetings Association; VISIT FLORIDA, Destination Management Association International (DMAI); and the Florida Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

Reyes holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Clinton Community College in Plattsburg, NY, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.  He is married and has one daughter.


Weather

Because of its North Florida location, Jacksonville has a temperate climate and a delightful change of seasons not found in other Florida cities. Year-round sunshine and blue skies offer mild weather, making a visit to Jacksonville pleasant, whatever the season.
