Nightlife Overview

Overview Activities

The city of Jacksonville is not just any urban area, even though it is the largest city in the continental United States, but moreover, it is a favorable destination for nightlife entertainment.  From every corner of the city's borders, including the beaches and Downtown, there is always a place to grab a drink with friends or dance the night away.

The Beaches offer diverse nightlife - everything from trendy martinis to casual beach dives.  Martinis are afloat at Casa Marina Hotel and Restaurant, hidden on the top floor of Jacksonville Beach's most historic hotel is the Penthouse Lounge. The outdoor wooden deck allows you to soak in an incredible view of the expanse of shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean, as you sip on a martini and nibble on tapas. For the right mix of tart and refreshing, try the blueberry lemon drop martini, equipped with a sugar rim and real blueberries. If you are in the mood for something more sweet, try the white cheese cake or tiramisu martini. Even if you do not stay at the Casa Marina, the Penthouse Lounge is still worth looking into for a night of relaxation with friends and the most eclectic cocktails.

Voted "Beaches Favorite Restaurant" in 2007 and 2008, Culhane's Irish Pub & Restaurant located in Atlantic Beach, offers a true Irish experience.  Owned and operated by four sisters born and raised in the county of Limerick in Ireland, they ensure an authentic Irish visit, from food and drink to service and entertainment.  A local school of Irish dancers come to the pub once a month to perform traditional Irish dancing, music and song, and there is always an abundance of traditional Celtic music playing.

Downtown oozes chic, trendy and just neighborhood comfort at bars scattered throughout the urban core.  The Twisted Martini  at The Jacksonville Landing has collected numerous honors over the years, a reflection of its posh interior, laced with inviting lounge areas, cool music and inventive flair.  Known first and foremost for specialty martinis and enticing tapas menu, Twisted Martini also sees its share of dance moves, as local and visiting DJs spin the latest in Latin, reggae, R&B, blues and jazz.  Sip on one of Twisted's inventive cocktails such as the Blueberry Muffin or Almond Joy Martini on the outdoor patio that overlooks The Landing courtyard and the St. Johns River.  You'll be the center of attention and have front row seats to specialty music acts featured on the main stage right in the heart of The Landing, not to mention you'll have a great spot to relax and soak in the sights of the city.

Situated in the core of the Downtown's nightlife scene, Club TSI Discothèque is the "bar next door" for the nocturnal crowd who enjoy a laid back atmosphere.  The club provides a great vibe by infusing underground music, extended wine bars, a flashy dance floor, billiard tables, Ms. Pacman Tabletop, Centipede and fog machine.  While you're enjoying your fine selection of import and domestic beer, wine, ports or champagne, check out their main stage, which hosts local, national and international shows every week of the year.

Looking to feed your soul, then make your way to Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum.  On the first Thursday of every month, the lobby of the Ritz is transformed into a stage for poets and poetry lovers of all ages. Show off your own talent for verse, or just come, listen and soak up the creative atmosphere.
