“Amalia Hernandez is an expert at putting together fast-paced entertaining shows that can make viewers want to rush right off to Mexico.” - New York Times
Direct from the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, this spectacular company of 65 dancers and musicians is one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. Ballet Folklorico de Mexico is a celebration of life in movement, music and color.
The Ballet Folklorico’s many dances encompass Mayan and Aztec rituals, dramatic events from Mexico’s past and colorful depictions of Mexico’s diverse culture and folklore. Drawing from the rich and varied repertoire of Amalia Hernandez, Latin America’s most important choreographer, the selection of dances for the company’s current tour presents brilliant theatricality and great passion.
We will be teaching a Ballroom and Latin class before the American Ballroom and Contemporary Dance Association dance social. We will also be performing during the social.
The dance is taking place on Saturday, Feb 13. The class starts at 7 p.m.

Willie Nelson
As a songwriter and a performer, Willie Nelson played a vital role in post-rock & roll country music with a career that has spanned many decades. Willie has never played it safe musically. Instead, he's borrowed from a wide variety of styles, including traditional pop, Western swing, jazz, traditional country, cowboy songs, honky tonk, rock & roll, folk, and the blues, creating a distinctive, elastic hybrid. He has remained a vital icon in country music, having greatly influenced the new country, new traditionalist, and alternative country movements of the '80s and '90s as well as leaving behind a legacy of classic songs and recordings.
You could call him a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammy-winner, world-class musical collaborator, musicians' advocate, world traveler, fisherman, or cigar aficionado. These titles are all accurate, yet none convey the warmth, humor, and soulfulness of Taj and his music. Taj has been playing his own distinctive brand of music -- variously described as Afro-Caribbean blues, folk-world-blues, hula blues, folk-funk, and a host of other hyphenations -- for more than 40 years.
Students, faculty and staff team up with community partners to perform the classic monologues that will make you cringe, cry and crack up. Proceeds to benefit UNF Women’s Center and Hubbard House.

They then try to seduce each other’s betrothed in disguise as a test of their beloved’s faithfulness. How far will this gamble go? When love is true, it passes all tests.
