Things To Do

Stick your toes in the sand on any of our beaches! Before hitting the sand pick up your beach accessories from Rent Beach Stuff - providing everything you need for a day of fun! Rentals include beach chairs, boogie boards, surfboards, sand castle equipment, beach blankets and bikes. Pick-up and delivery is a part of the service.

There are plenty of places to catch live music at the beaches. Beaches Town Center, where Neptune and Atlantic Beaches meet, offers tons of nightlife options. There’s always live music, either in the main courtyard or at Ragtime or the Flying Iguana, which has a selection of 100-plus tequilas. Check out Island Girl Wine & Cigar Bar or Poe’s Tavern, a gastropub with more than 50 beer options. Cruise down A1A to find many additional bars and restaurants with live music and drink specials throughout the beach communities.

Grab your swim wear and head to Shipwreck Island Waterpark during spring and summer. Park at Adventure Landing features the Little St. Johns River, the Typhoon Lagoon wave pool and four extreme water slides: the Rage, the Hydro Half-Pipe, the Undertow and the Eye of the Storm. Don't miss Adventure Landing's other attractions too, go-karts, adventure miniature golf, indoor laser tag, the mega arcade and the batting cages.

Where Lemon Street meets the ocean is where you will find a true locals favorite. The Lemon Bar is a great escape to paradise where they serve up the finest beach inspired cocktails with the famous cocktail beach umbrellas. Be sure to grab a seat oceanside. Jax Beach has a variety of bars to check out including, Irish Pubs, microbrews and dance clubs.

Rainy day? Head to the Beaches Museum & History Center. Walk along a replica boardwalk, while soaking in historical tales, including the story of devastating Hurricane Dora. After all that adventure, hunger will set in, so enjoy those local Mayport shrimp and unique cuisine at local hot spots, MShack, North Beach Fish Camp, Culhanes Irish Pub and Restaurant, The Blind Rabbit or Taco Lu just to name a few. Try an oceanfront restaurant, The Pier--a restaurant that offers outdoor seating and sweeping views of the shoreline.

Timing Is Everything

There are many cool beachside events happening year-round in Jax. The 26.2 With Donna is the only marathon in the world that donates 100% of its profits to Breast Cancer Research. The marathon takes runners thru Jacksonville Beach every February. For over 20 years, Jacksonville Beach has been the perfect place to hear great music and enjoy the local seafood at the Great Atlantic Seafood Festival. This free festival offers visitors live music, fresh seafood, a surf contest and good old family-fun.

Springing the Blues is the South’s largest free Blues Festival; it takes place in sunny Jacksonville Beach each April. Sea & Sky Spectacular Air Show when Jacksonville’s own –the Blue Angels- come home every this November to thrill audiences over Jacksonville Beach. For $1.50 you can ditch the car and explore all of the area using the beaches trolley system. This is a weekend service that serves the Beaches during the summer season that runs from South Beach Regional Shopping Center to Atlantic Boulevard.
