Florida-Georgia: Things to Do in Jax Beyond RV City
Posted By: Local Expert Guest
Veer off the typical Gator and Dawg paths at these hip Downtown-area locations in Jacksonville.
Read StoryThe Jacksonville Beach Pier is officially open after three years of closure following damage from Hurricanes Irma and Matthew.
The Pier is now 12 feet taller, which will help protect it from storm surge and withstand future storms. While the bait shop isn’t open yet, there are bathrooms in a nearby parking lot.
The Pier is open to pedestrians as well as anglers, who can fish for free daily from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. There are certain restrictions in place, and these are subject to change. Anglers are only allowed three rods when on the Pier. There are police officers on-site to ensure that this new restriction is followed. Currently, no cast netting is allowed. For the most up-to-date information about the Pier, visit the City of Jacksonville Beach website.
Other restrictions include: no diving or jumping, no sitting on railing, no alcohol, no bicycles, skateboards or rollerblades, no feeding the birds and no pets (except service animals).
@visit_jax The Jacksonville Beach Pier has officially reopened! You can catch some of the best views (and maybe see some dolphins too). ⛱️🌊 #onlyinjax #beach #paradise #pier #tiktoktravel #fyp #foryourpage ♬ Beach Fun - FASSounds
