Big Fun in Jacksonville’s Minor Leagues

Each spring and summer, Jacksonville is buzzing with baseball, football, rugby and soccer fans in town to enjoy some of the most fun games the minor leagues have to offer.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 2019) – Each spring and summer, Jacksonville is buzzing with baseball, football, rugby and soccer fans in town to enjoy some of the most fun games the minor leagues have to offer. For your next trip to Jax, score a ticket and get ready to cheer for one of the local teams!

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, plays in the Southern League. They pack the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, one of the premier minor league ballparks in North America, every game with fun promotion and giveaways. The 11,000-seat stadium features 12 luxury skyboxes, four skydecks, a large videoboard, a playground and “The Knuckle” – a unique nine-foot high mound for seating at the left field corner. The team’s schedule begins in April.

The Jacksonville Sharks are a professional indoor football team playing their home games at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Downtown’s Sports Complex. The Sharks formerly played in the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2010 to 2016, where they won the championship of their division in the first four seasons of their existence. Their season opens in April.

The Jacksonville Armada FC is a professional soccer team in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). The Armada play their home games at Patton Park in Jacksonville. Last year, The Armada clinched its first ever playoff appearance by finishing second overall in the Sunshine Conference, and won its first playoff game against Miami United FC. Their schedule kicks off in May.

The Jacksonville Axemen play in the USA Rugby League (USARL), a 21-team semi-professional league. Since their inception, The Axemen have become one of the most successful rugby football clubs in the country. They play their home games at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida, and their games begin in June.
