Visit Jacksonville is excited to once again team up with JaxParks for the 2019 Jacksonville Geocache Challenge.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. September 18 -- Visit Jacksonville is excited to once again team up with JaxParks for the 2019 Jacksonville Geocache Challenge. This virtual treasure hunt kicks off September 21 with a very special event at one of the city’s top parks.
The Jacksonville Geocache Challenge will take participants on a digital scavenger hunt throughout some of the city’s most beautiful parks and landmarks as they search for 30 hidden caches. A special passport will guide you to the hidden spots. Those who find at least 25 of the 30 hidden caches will receive a specially designed collector’s geocoin.
“Jacksonville is home to the largest urban park system in the nation with more than 400 city parks to explore and enjoy. This contest is a great way to get visitors and residents to discover a few new parks and what makes them so unique,” said Katie Mitura, VP of Marketing and Communications of Visit Jacksonville. Mitura’s team worked with Friends of JaxParks Geocachers and JaxParks to curate the perfect spots for each cache.
Jacksonville makes an ideal park geocache challenge destination due to the diversity of our parks system and the easy access to them. No matter where you are in the city, you are never more than 15 minutes away from an unforgettable eco-adventure.
The Jacksonville Geocache Challenge will officially begin Saturday, September 21 at 9 a.m. during an event at Castaway Island Preserve.
WHEN: Saturday, September 21 at 9 a.m.
WHERE: Castaway Island Preserve, 2921 San Pablo Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32224
To receive the collector’s geocoin participants must take their completed passport with at least 25 of the stops to REI in Jacksonville. The first 150 participants to check in will receive a coin. We expect the challenge will last through the beginning of 2020.
