The “Visit JAX!” destination app features local attractions, restaurants, events and self-guided tours to experience in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. May 24, 2019-- Visit Jacksonville, the City’s Destination Marketing Organization, has launched the new “Visit JAX!” mobile app for iPhone and android users. The free app is packed with unique features to make any trip to Jacksonville easier including listings on places to stay, events, what to see and do, where to eat & drink and local tours.
“Visit Jacksonville is constantly looking for the best way to make a visitor’s trip to our city easier and our new app does just that by conveniently giving them access to all there is to experience in Jacksonville right in the palm of their hands,” said Michael Corrigan, President and CEO of Visit Jacksonville. “More than 1-million users visit our website annually, and almost 70 percent of them do it on their mobile phone making this app a much-needed feature to better promote our destination.”
The app was produced by Visit Widget under the guidance of Visit Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Tourist Development Council. Some of its most innovative features include “Plan Your Trip” which allows users to add any of the events, things to do, restaurants, etc. to their “My Plan” section which will then map out the best route to experience their selections. This feature can also be accessed at visitjacksonvile.com and linked to the app giving users access on the go. Another unique feature is the “Self-Guided Tours” section with new tours on public art, historic buildings, and historic homes. Some of these include audio tours.
“Our new Self-Guided Tours give visitors free and easy access to authentic Jacksonville experiences that can only be had here. The tours have different lengths and locations and highlight the history and culture of our destination,” said Katie Mitura, VP of Marketing and Communications for Visit Jacksonville. “We will continue to expand this feature and soon will be adding augmented reality to the tours on the app giving users a chance to look into the past and present of our city.”
Search “Visit JAX!” on the App Store or Google Play to download it for free.
