Jacksonville's art scene is thriving. From public art galleries, to art walks, to festivals and more, you will want to check out the art around town!
Public Art Murals
All over Jacksonville, you’ll find dozens of murals representing diverse scenes by emerging and established local and international artists. The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville created an Art in Public Places Program, which oversees the selection, installation, maintenance and conservation of the public art around Jacksonville. ArtRepublic, an innovative visual arts festival, has also brought some of the top muralists in the world to Downtown Jacksonville to use our walls as canvases. Local historic neighborhoods like Brooklyn, Springfield, Riverside and Jacksonville Beach also have walls decorated by beautiful murals. Check out the public art scene in Jacksonville.
Cork Arts District
This cutting-edge, 80,000 square foot warehouse space provides a setting for local artists and galleries and hosts regular events open to the public. Future plans for the space include adding more studios and galleries and introducing a live music venue and space for performance art. Visit the Cork Arts District by appointment only or during one of the regularly scheduled events.
Project Atrium at MOCA
Project Atrium, located in the atrium of the Museum of Contemporary Arts (MOCA) in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville, showcases a new site-sensitive installation created by different artists each month. The artists install their art in the atrium of the museum on display for the public, while visitors can watch the whole project unfold throughout the month and enjoy a new installation each month.
This unique installation is on display in the Jacksonville Public Library. This movement was started by two local artists in 2010 as a way to get the public excited and motivated to create their own art work. The artists sent out 5" wood pieces to anyone willing to embellish them with art of their choice; 910 people in the community participated in the local movement. You can check out all of the individually created art blocks, and many other unique art exhibits at the Jacksonville Public Library in Downtown Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is a city of "Makers" and art is a huge creative force. From Florida Mining Gallery, to Southlight Gallery and the Jax Makerspace inside the Main Library in Downtown, you can purchase or simply explore beautiful pieces of art in Jax.
Situated along the Northbank River Walk under the Fuller Warren Bridge, Riverside Arts Market(RAM) is an eclectic destination attracting art lovers, treasure hunters, foodies and music fans every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Aside from all the public and private art across the city, Jacksonville is also home to some of the most visited museums in the Southeast. Visit our Museums section for all the details.
