Enjoy a walking safari right here in Jacksonville at The Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens or Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary. Both offer a great family experience that's also educational!
Learn about local plants and wildlife with a visit to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Interactive and educational exhibits keep kids engaged in learning about the more than 2,000 exotic animals. Don’t miss the award-winning Range of the Jaguars exhibit or the Giraffe Overlook, where you can stand eye-to-eye with a giraffe! Save time for a stroll through the beautiful Botanical Gardens, which feature colorful examples of native Northeast Florida plants, as well as several themed pocket-gardens. The newest exhibit, The Land of the Tiger, is a must see! Take the little ones to cool off in the 4,000 square foot Splash Ground area and adjacent Discovery Center, which features mazes, a tree house, a penguin tunnel, and a ton of interactive activities.
Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary provides a forever home to endangered big cats like lions, tigers, cougars, and leopards. The ranch also provides hours of educational entertainment to families. Try a nighttime feeding tour, when these mostly nocturnal animals are out and about and roaring!
