Ice is back in Jax as of October 2020!
Jacksonville’s newest professional sports team, the Jacksonville Icemen, started play in 2017 as part of the ECHL. The ECHL serves as a development league for the National Hockey League. Home games are played at the Veterans Memorial Arena.
The team plays a 36-game regular season home schedule against South Division teams from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Naples/Fort Myers, Orlando, and Greenville and Charleston, SC, as well as the rest of the 28-team ECHL, which extends from Jacksonville to Anchorage, Alaska.
The Icemen games are an entertaining, family-friendly experience. Every seat in the arena is a good one and the team puts on various theme nights including Marvel Super Hero Night, Bike Night, Guns & Hoses Night, Star Wars Night and more! There is also a dedicated seat at the arena that will forever remain empty in honor of prisoners of war and missing-in-action service members. It was dedicated during the inaugural season.
