Commercial shrimping has played a vital role in shaping life in Jacksonville’s historic Mayport Village for over 150 years.

Today our locally caught, wild Atlantic shrimp, also known as Mayport shrimp, is available to enjoy in creative dishes at restaurants and fish camps across the city to give visitors a real taste of Jax. Devour your way through the Mayport Shrimp Trail today!

Download the Visit Jax app and look for the Mayport Shrimp Trail icon on the main menu.

We recommend you create an account on the Visit Jax app BEFORE you start checking in on any of the trails. By doing this, the check ins will save to your account. If you do not have an account and already checked in to places, you should not create an account as doing so may wipe out the existing check ins.

Eat your way through this savory trail. Dine and check in at 5 participating restaurants (see those below) to complete this challenge. It's as shrimple as that!

After your 5th check-in, make sure to submit the form to receive your prize - a fun T-shirt and 2 tickets to a home Jumbo Shrimp baseball game!

Mayport Shrimp Facts:

  • Mayport shrimp is caught locally at the mouth of the St. Johns River, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean.
  • The best (and biggest) Mayport shrimps can be found in November and December, but it is available fresh all year long.
  • Mayport shrimp can be both white and brown, yet equally delicious.
  • You can shop for Mayport shrimp in fish markets across the nation.
