jazz festThe 2010 Jacksonville Jazz Festival will feature renowned jazz performances in the heart of downtown Jacksonville on Laura Street, various downtown businesses and historic buildings. Laura Street will be transformed into a jazz club atmosphere with multiple stages of free entertainment, Art in the Heart Downtown Art Show & Sale, Wine Down Tasting Experience, Generation Next Youth Talent Competition, children's educational activities, jazz exhibits and movies. Other festival highlights includes the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition, 'Round Midnight Jazz Jam, Jazz Talk, CHOPS Documentary and Sunday Jazz Brunches.

Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition

The Florida Theatre
7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.

The Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition has been a Jacksonville tradition for more than 20 years. Five finalists, chosen by a selection committee through "blind" judging, will compete for the honor of this award, a cash prize and the chance to perform during the 2010 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

The 2010 Art in the Heart of Downtown art show and sale will feature the work of talented artists and master craftspeople from around the country. Festival patrons will enjoy both the sounds of first-rate jazz performers and browse through the work of talented artists from around the nation- all in a vibrant street festival setting.
