Unofficially referred to as the “carb capital” of Jacksonville...
Murray Hill is a great neighborhood to inspire you to eat all of the carbs at some amazing local restaurants! This neighborhood has gone through quite the transformation over the last few years. Located just north of Avondale and west of Riverside, it’s easily accessible to all. The neighborhood is also home to a large collection of murals created by local artists.
Just a few of the great restaurants include: Moon River Pizza, Maple Street Biscuit Company, Community Loaves, El Jefe Tex Mex, B Street Eats and the Edgewood Diner.
For a delicious beverage check out Vagabond Coffee, Town Beer Company or Night Hawks which also features live musical acts.
The Dreamette - An unassuming little ice cream stand, if you blink you could miss it, but what you don’t want to miss is their ice cream. Serving homemade ice cream for more than 60 years, this treat is hard to beat. Try any of their flavors, homemade syrups and shakes.
Maple Street Biscuit Company - A fresh-made flaky biscuit, all-natural fried chicken breast, bacon, and cheddar cheese topped off with sausage gravy (with a kick). Locally sourced ingredients and southern charm are plentiful at this wildly popular breakfast spot. Maple Street has lighter options too, but if you’re doing a good southern-style breakfast, you should do it right!
Moon River Pizza - Moon River Pizza is a funky pizza joint that makes pies the old-fashioned way, hand-tossed, covered in hearty tomato sauce and freshly grated cheese. For your classic everything pizza, try “The Special”, loaded with meat, veggies and of course, extra cheese!
Murray Hillbilly - Who say’s southern comfort can’t be plant-based? Murray Hillbilly offers local and organic meals for any and all diet needs. We recommend the Spicy Chickun Fry, deep fried bbq soy chickun with pickles, hot sauce.
