Brooklyn

Considered part of the downtown area, Brooklyn’s historic significance dates back over 100 years.

Originally a residential suburb, commercial uses became prominent during the 20th century, particularly along the St. Johns River and Riverside Avenue, and the area became included in Jacksonville's central business district. In the 21st century, it has become the site of many new developments, including the Brooklyn Station which is home to restaurants and shopping and Unity Plaza. Local hometown favorite, Burrito Gallery has a rooftop patio restaurant and bar in the area.

The Northbank Riverwalk stretches along the river in Brooklyn passed the brand-new Corkscrew Park which features an exercise “tree” and workout area, then on to the state-of-the-art YMCA and further down to the Riverside Arts Market. It’s a wonderful walking and running trail, or just a great place to explore Jacksonville’s wonderful riverfront.

Plenty of new businesses are slated to open in the area over the coming years, including a distillery and brewery!
