Brys and Chris
Hey there, we are Brys and Chris, and we’ve both been living in Jacksonville for over 10 years and are both currently proud downtown residents.
We love to explore and experience Jax and its many neighborhoods, and we love finding new things and favorites in every one of them! We love seeing the incredible pride and momentum in the last several years in the city, and we’re excited for what the future holds for Jacksonville!
Chris’ background is in the arts and education. A Nebraska native, he loves exploring the visual art hidden throughout Jax or enjoying some of the incredible arts and music festivals!
Brys’ is originally from Pensacola, FL and his background is in economics, event planning and community building. He loves connecting communities and highlighting what makes Jacksonville so unique.
We are the founders of @JaxLikeALocal and @DowntownSocialJax, and started these as ways to highlight and celebrate the urban core and build a community that can truly identify with Downtown Jacksonville.
1. What do you love most about Jacksonville?
We love the Jacksonville community and the opportunity to truly curate the life you want in this city. The food scene in Jacksonville is low-key exceptional, there is always something to do around town, and the natural beauty of the city coupled with the history is unmatched. There are amazing things to do all over Duval, ranging from the Riverwalk to the Beaches and everywhere in between!
2. What is one thing you tell a visitor that they must see/do when in Jax?
The amazing new riverfront parks downtown and several restaurants with spectacular rooftop views are definitely the best place to start when exploring Jacksonville.The beaches are always on the recommendation list. And the many events and festivals including Porchfest, JazzFest and the monthly Sip and Strolls on the Southbank are absolute must-do’s for anyone visiting Jacksonville.
3. Where is your favorite local spot to eat?
It is hard to recommend just one spot, it has to be a toss up between James Beard Award Finalist Chancho King, or Naked Kitchen, or Hard Pressed Burgers! These are our Jax staples and highlight the amazing food scene that is cultivating in Duval
