Running Routes for Conference Attendees

So, you’re booked for a conference in Downtown Jacksonville and hoping to stay active while you’re here. You’re in luck because we’re a destination full of natural jogging trails.

With waterfront views, ocean breezes, and lush green landscape at every turn, we’re here to deliver your runner’s high.

All of these suggested routes are located within a few blocks of any Downtown hotel and can be linked together for a longer distance.

Pro-tip: When running along the water, keep your eyes peeled for a sighting of the roughly 300 Bottlenose dolphins that call the St. Johns River home.

Northbank Riverwalk

3.1 miles (5k)

Highlights: Waterfront views, primarily flat, urban setting

This is perhaps the most popular running route in Jacksonville. Expanding along the St. Johns River, the Riverwalk perfectly combines the serenity of the water with the urban core’s upbeat vibe. On Saturdays (10am-3pm), visit the Riverside Arts Market, located under I-95.

Southbank Riverwalk

3.1 miles (5k)

Highlights: Waterfront views, brief incline, urban setting

This is similar to the Northbank with both water and urban views. The out and back route adds in the Main Street Bridge for a brief incline challenge. Every third Thursday (5-8pm), the Southbank plays host to Sip & Stroll with live music and food/beverage vendors.

The Bridges

1.7 miles

Highlights: Waterfront views, incline, urban setting

This route offers runners some incline and extra intensity, with a large loop over the Main Street Bridge and Acosta Bridge. Don’t miss the unique view of our truss railroad bridge that spans the river and dates back to 1925.

San Marco Square Loop

4.6 miles

Highlights: Waterfront views, historic neighborhood, iconic landmarks, incline, urban & residential settings

The is a similar route to the Bridges and extends through part of the historic San Marco neighborhood. Allow yourself a little extra time to grab a coffee or window shop the boutiques in San Marco Square. We also highly recommend going slightly off-route to enjoy the beautiful views of Riverfront Park and the unique homes surrounding Marco Lake.
