Julington-Durbin Preserve
The Julington-Durbin Preserve is located on a scenic peninsula where Julington and Durbin Creeks meet, offering nearly nine miles of pristine shoreline. This unique landscape features a long sandy ridge that gently transitions into lush floodplain swamps and marshes along the water’s edge.
The preserve’s extensive wetlands play a vital role in protecting water quality and managing floodwaters for both creeks and the St. Johns River. It's also a haven for wildlife—home to bald eagles, ospreys, gopher tortoises, bobcats, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, and a wide variety of wading birds and songbirds. Manatees can also be spotted seasonally in the creeks.
Visitors to the Julington-Durbin Preserve can enjoy a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, birdwatching, picnicking, and nature exploration, making it a treasured natural retreat in Northeast Florida.
