Grant Overview:
Matching Funds Requirement:
Both grant types require a minimum 2:1 match
For every $1 requested from FSF, $2 in verified matching funds is required
Minor (Regional) Grant Funding: Up to $100,000
Requires an Economic Impact Ratio of $100:1
Example: $50,000 request = $5,000,000 projected impact
Major Grant Funding: Requests of $100,000–$300,000
Requires an Economic Impact Ratio of $150:1
Example: $200,000 request = $30,000,000 projected impact
Typically for major championships (MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, NCAA Final Four, etc.)
Information required to apply:
Post-Award Requirements:
Proof of insurance (uploaded at least two weeks prior to the event; FSF listed as additional insured with $1M per occurrence)
Post-Event Documentation:
Hotel room nights used
Ticket sales and attendee data (including geographic origin)
Youth events: number of youth and adult participants with geographic data
Estimated economic impact
Participant counts and/or event schedule
Screenshots/photos showing FSF “Play in Florida” logo on website and signage at event
Invoices and/or proof of payment
Supporting narrative summarizing the event
Scoring Criteria:
Economic impact, ROI, and out-of-state visitation: 50%+
Florida visibility, community impact, first-time/relocated events: 20%
Health & fitness programming and youth engagement: 10%
Budget, matching funds, and organizational preparedness: remaining score
Bonus points for off-season timing, sustainability, or military-inclusive features
