Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens

Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens offers world-class art, spanning from 2100 B.C. through the 21st century, and features special exhibitions from around the world.

The Cummer Gardens are a unique example of early 20th century garden design, with features such as reflecting pools, fountains, arbors, and sculptures. These stunning areas are of particular significance due to their connection to several famed landscape architects, including Ellen Biddle Shipman, who designed the Italian Garden, and the Olmsted Brothers firm. A prominent attraction in the Gardens is the Cummer Oak, which is estimated to be 175 to 200 years old. This majestic giant has a canopy of more than 150 feet. The Gardens are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Cummer Museum provides multiple ways to connect with the power of the arts and the joy of creation. Classes, tours, concerts, and programs in the Galleries and Gardens are just some of the ways the arts come alive. Through hands-on, multidisciplinary experiences like podcasts, cell phone tours, family guides, the Create! Kiosk, and Art Connections, the Museum's interactive education center, visitors of all abilities can connect with works of art in the Permanent Collection and the natural beauty of the Gardens.
