This park is named for the El Faro Cargo Ship which was a Jacksonville-based ship that was lost at sea in 2015. The small park is under the Dames Point Bridge. A statue was erected to memorialize the ship’s deceased crew members. The sight of the statue was chosen because its position near the mouth of the St. Johns River means it was among the last patches of home those aboard the ship saw on that fateful voyage. There is fishing available as well as a picnic shelter and picnic tables.
